Title: No power to stereo's :(

Hi there all,

My brother has just bought a 1993 1.9tdi mk3 and cannot get any power to the stereo.

When he bought the car it had the old tape player in which wasn't conected, so we plug in his Sendai unit and there was nothing no power tho this unit worked fine in his car before, So we tried the stereo that came with the car and again dead????

When I had my MK3 i could just plug and play my aftermarket sony unit no probs.

We have checked the fuse's and still no luck anyone got any ideas please?

Check the live with a multimeter to see if there is any power coming through first. It could be something as simple as a split cable.

Mine had no ignition live when I bought mine so I tapped into the rear heated screen switch and took ignition live from there. As said use a multimeter to check for permanent and ignition live first though.
