Title: Car trouble. VW express visual check+Diognostic. Any good????
Post by: TopRaver on 01 June 2012, 20:03
Hi folkies. Bought a mk4 golf last febuary and was thinking about getting an evc and diognostic done at VW to find out what the crack is with it. And weather its worth getting one done for 50 smackers worth of my sweat blood and tears?

Ive got two DTC's logged-16804 cat bank 1 low thresh and 16518 for bank 1 front lamda. Alternator workshop has flashed up twice in 3 months. Starter sticks. And now it does'nt start first time anymore when its been stood a while. Oh and for the first time today. It was struggling and a message popped up immobil active followed by a cloud of white smoke from the exhaust. Before the revs kicked in and it started to idle correctly.

As daft as it sounds it drives superb so i have'nt a clue what the crack is with it. Any ideas??

Much appriciated eye candy golf owner.

If you already have the codes, your better off just doing this and asking in the mk4 section, as someone may be able to help u out. VW will charge you £50 to read the codes again, then tell u whats already been said here!   and then just try to dupe u out of much much more in repair bills mate!
