This is the one i went for http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220795895496?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_3521wt_905
I'v had it 3 weeks now and must say pretty pleased with the out come, I read a lot of people hate them due to them breaking but iv hit mine over and over and still standing. My car is lower than most curbs and i missed judge doing a quick turn in a side road and went up on the curb scraping the front. Death to my ears lol. also a random tree branch was in the road other day hitting my car at 40MPH oh and a 1/2 snap on end for a breaker bar end in the road yesterday i actually though something fell off my car so stopped walked back to see what it was, put it in my car finders keepers LOL. Then there's the speed bumps pot holes other lumps n bumps in the road.
Now as its a cheap one it don't seem to line up well at the front and the sides didn't sit well so for the sides i actually used Sealant on the lugs as that's all i had around the house and its held it in place pretty well. also on the plus it actually does make your car look lower to.
I though id report my out come as some people were wondering if they were worth it. i'm going to go ahead and say yes give it a 7-10. its a good price does the job but don't seem to line up well.

glad your happy with it mate,
3hours at a push is all mine lasted, but mine does live like 10mm from the floor an yours looks about a foot in yer sig pic
-
Just took the ruler out its 10mm  i want to lower my front end 20mm but don't think i should.
-
what i have found with them splitters its not so much the bending that breaks them. its when your wheel goes down a hole or something you dont see and its an impact from bellow normally breaks them just bellow the clips near the corners.
-
/\/\/\/\/\ what him have said is what i have found

This is why i used sealant to try keep the sides a bit stronger and when i put the splitter on the sides just seem like they could pop out and break. now im not saying what i have done has worked but it seems ok to me atm FINGERS CROSSED!!! touch wood i don't go out and break it today hahaha.
-
the breaking point is at the front between the corner and the bit the dips in. about an inch down from where it clips in. thats where it usually goes. and is normally done by an impact from underneath. i doubt putting anything on it will stop that tbh mate.
but keep us posted.
i used the cheap one on ebay that has the pic of the bloke hands twisting it and it lasted quite a wile as it was more flexible but that still broke on a ramp in the end.
-
now you said thaat i aint broke, its gunna brake now, temping fate n all that
-
Just bought one of these so fingers crossed.. :smug:
-
Still got mine, been hit from all angles, cars going lower on weekend tho.
-
Had one of these and been on 6 months now with no problems at all including a few kerb moments!!!

I had about 5 and all broke and didnt last long.
Got two genuine vr splitters and still on the first. I've bent it in half, folded it right over driving up a drive and it pops back.
eBay for months
Genuine for life

You guys are lucky, I can't fit a vr splitter on because the fronts that low
I've currently got a duckbill splitter on and my sump sits lower than the splitter

Trouble is its getting harder to find genuine VR lips and those who have them know that they are worth more and milk it, i know it could be false economy but i'm just not paying £50 for a piece of old rubber.
-
The reason they are dear SH is because from new they are £90 from the dealer. I have just bought one. But you can feel the difference and they seem lighter too.
My ebay £15 splitter lasted about one 45min trip and my car wasnt that low.
-
Well it turned up today and tbh it does look cheap but you get what you pay for so i'll chuck it on at the weekend and see how long it last.

yeah this is the one i have used a few times. seems abit better that the rest and a really good fit. plus it meets in the middle perfect. seems to last longer than the other ones to.
-
My ebay splitter lasted 3m on the driveway  Literally 3m. Reversed off the drive and as soon as the car dropped over the kerb it smashed into 3 pieces.

The material they use is full of re grind and a load of black masterbatch, the genuine parts are the correct grade of material designed to take impacts and resist cold/heat and UV.....
If we could find out where they are moulded then I could supply the right material for a group buy.........

That be AMAZING! would you be aloud on a legal note tho? otherwise all the cheap ebay ones would be doing this?

The eBay ones are made using the cheapest materials possible, for profit not for durability

Cheapo Vr splitter fitted tonight and was really easy, old one pulled off and new one slotted straight on although i think i'll put a couple of self tappers in underneath because its not quite as snug as the old one.
-
Looks better gavv, my first ebay splitter was a loose fit and popped out one side now and again but my latest one was quite difficult to get on and a real good fit so they seem to vary alot .
-
Yeah, i read a couple of threads and wasn't expecting miracles but it actually fits quite well although i don't expect it to last long but seeing as i only have a -40mm drop on the front it might be ok.

6 WEEKS!!!!
visiting a friend who lives on a farm i split my splitter soooo many pot holes on the way through the filed

vr6 one looks alot better, get another cheap one while you source a genuine
-
I'm ditching my vr one in favour of a gti one mainly because when I remove my helper springs it won't have enough room
-
Bashed mine several times already and it seems to be ok..

Dont speak too soon. Only a matter of time.

VR6 one is a lot nicer but you need a genuine one for sure. My Anni has a genuine one with two cracks in it but still going strong!

Hell yeah, my vr splitter was perminanlty on the floor so i got a duckbill that sits higher than a cl splitter
