Title: Door dropped - 5 door Mk6 GTI
Post by: C3PO on 31 May 2012, 21:07
After my wife complained about the passenger door being stiff to open, I examined the door to find it was out of alignment, catching at the top of the door. So, I visited the local VW dealership to find out that they did not deal with bodywork, and had to visit their bodyshop office. I trawled myselc down their thinking what sort of customer service is this for a premium model in the range, but if it gets sorted quickly it will be worth it. Trouble is the bodyshop place took 35 mins to view the car, stated that door adjustments are not covered by warrenty, as you only get 6 months, and it would cost £74 for the trouble, and they need the car for half a day !!!!!!!

So, rang the dealership in Yorkshire where the car was bought, after they stopped laughing, asked me to call in next time I was up and they would sort for free, and wash my car whilst it was there (they always use a new sponge on my car knowing how particular i am about my car).

How can treatment be so different by 2 dealerships!!!!!

I've experienced exactly the same with my creaking door seals, i took it to my local dealer who said it's normal and said exactly the same about the 6 month bullsh!t! I called the dealer where i bought the car and they were worlds apart, said they would replace all the seals inside and out no questions asked and the car is 2 years old.

It's disgusting tbh, i have bought a car from my local but never again!!

Check the warranty page from VW's website....

http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/warranty/factory/terms

There's quite a lot of stuff that only has the 6 month/6,500 mile guarantee!
