i no on a astra i once had the EGR valve had to be blanked off is this the case with a golf or not?

Thanks

Clean the EGR out rather than blank it off.

they get gummed up due to the breather design putting oily vapour back into the inlet so it wouldn't have helped being like that. Best off waiting for the fault code reader before you do anything else in case you're wasting your time

update on this:

had a spirited drive today and it feels like the car isnt powering correctly it will rev up fine but will hold back on the power then give you some then will take it all away whilst the revs are still rising im thinking either a MAF or the EGR valve im still waiting for the lead to turn up to scan it tho unless someone in the cornwall area has the leas and software to lend me
