Title: Hello from Barcelona
Post by: richhimself on 30 May 2012, 09:52
Hi All.

I'm from Gloucestershire originally but now living in Barcelona.

Picked up and 2010 GTi last week, 2nd hand but in very good condition with only 12,000miles on the clock.

Having a few issues with the Bluetooth kit and an iPhone but other than that loving it.

Will post some photo's when I get some.

I was love that made me move.

It's taken a little while to get a car sorted the girlfriend had an old Fiesta that wouldn't die!, plus living in a city isn't ideal, was too used to the UK where I had Garage, a big drive and plenty of space.

Back in the UK I had first a MK4 20v T, then had a MK5 GT TDI a Peugeot 106 Rallye I was restoring and a 106 Rallye as a track car.

I miss the Rallyes the most, but not very practical here with space etc so that was the idea behind the Golf, something fun but practical :)

And yes, you're right with the Messi shirts :)

Ah I see, it didnt even enter my mind that it cud of been love behind the move...but nice!

I used to have a bog std 1.4 pug 106 which I kitted out a little back in my boy racer days lol...

What sort of power does the pug rallye's put out? I remember one whizzing past me when I had my pug...

Don't forget to post those pics up in the MK6 section when you get some...

Yes, love........

I swapped the 1.3 Engine for the 1.6 16v GTi/VTS Engine.

Breathing Mods and Exhaust changes give about 135-140bhp and it only weight 850Kgs so it shifted, all sold now, about to get married and being sensible! (ish)

My girlfriends family have a house out in the country side and it's just a track to get there, after one trip the Grey is now dusty white...it's going to be impossible!

Make sure you get some real good protection on it. 2/3 layers of a good sealant/wax...Then a quick rinse and it should come off

Take a look in the detailing section, great section BTW   Plenty of reviews/people opinions on many different brands. You will want durability more than anything I'd imagine, for this I think I can recommend Nattys/collinite wax...

Check out waxamomo.co.uk - Loads of gear on there, and Chris can ship abroad

Well after a nice open straight road today I'm even more in love with the Golf.

I'm not one to boast and say such reckless things, but I'm impressed at just how much the car pulls and keeps pulling even at eeerrr reasonable speed!

Only disappointment is the brakes!
