Title: New Aircon Pump!!! Part number needed ?
Post by: Mike_MK4 on 28 May 2012, 13:42
Went to get my aircon re-gassed and the mechanic said he filled it up with no leaks but when he went to test it out, it was still blowing out warm air!

They've had it back again today and determined the pump/ compressor dead!

he said a new one is £5-£600 from main dealer but he recommended buying one from Ebay and they'd fit it.
Does anyone know the part number I'd be looking for as I've seen a few but want to get it right one.

Thanks

A good air con specialist will be able to confirm where the system is leaking.

Might be better to do that than buy a pump you may not need.

they used the dye to check for leaks and said that the system itself is still sealed but the compressor/ piston itself isnt opening up and working properly so a new pump is the way forward???

Well it is a risk buying a s/h one but I think they are the same as the 1.8 pump

I have been trying to sort my aircon out on mine too as the mrs is going mental as its not working, tried regassing, new climate control about to change the air con pressure switch I am guessing if that doesnt work it will be the aircon pump next

i know...its a pain! Thankfully they've tracked it down the the compressor/ pump before i paid out for new controls, and pipes and what not.
Mechanic said there were no leaks and the switches were ok but its the pump itself is dead so I'll be praying it'll be ice cold by the end of the week...just in time for the next 2 weeks worth of rain!!

Turns out mine doesn't need a compressor it needs new cooling fans, just bought some off eBay then realised 2 seconds later it fits all 1.9 tdi apart from mine which is a PD150 hopefully the seller will refund as i sent the message 1 min after blooming paying.

Now I have to try and find some that will fit
