hello all, i believe its the gear linkage word, the gear stick is abit slopey but could it be anything else that im missing?
cheers

On top of re-aligning the gear linkages something that made a HUGE difference to my gear changes was new engine mounts.
Lift the bonnet rev the engine and check if there is any movement. Another way of checking is by getting someone else to put the car in gear and bring the clutch up to biting point a couple of times. If you do this please make sure the HANDBRAKE IS ENGAGED, BRAKE IS PRESSED and you STAND TO THE SITE of the car not in front when checking

i sometimes struggle geting mine into reverse. gears 1 through 5 are fine but when trying to put it into reverse i sometimes have to lift the clutch up slightly to get it to pop in. is this anything to worry about?

Had the gear linkage go on my mk4 not so long ago, started to struggle to put it in 1st and 3rd until one day I was just slowing down to pull up outside my house and it completely went and it was stick in 4th but luckily it only cost about £15 for a new linkage and now it's fine.

happy days i'll have a look at the engine mounts first to see whats happening there? what they like to change? and if the gear linkage has gone is it a pain to change.
cheers for your help so far
