Title: wurring noise?
Post by: bigpoppa81 on 09 June 2005, 17:50
when driving at speed my car (mk2 '91 gti) is making a right noise! it sounds like a hole somewhere and when im going faster it making the noise louder, its not happening when at a stand still and pressing the accelerator so i dunno if its definatly not the exhaust, i was thinking maybe the rear bearings? its just i got a check done when i was buying the car and it said "rear wheel bearing both sides, noted play, vertical held wheel" and "n/side front swivel joint noted very small amount of play (possible wheelbearing play)"

could this be the reason? or maybe the exhaust? and if it is the bearings are those a expensive job?

cheers

Sounds like a wheel bearing to me, you will definitley notice that the noise is comin from the wheels.

When my dad owned my valver before me he had a wheel bearing done and I think it cost around £50, but this was about 4 years ago though.
