Ideal now how much can you gain with a map

Did you trade in the Clio then or scrap it?
Bloke Linzi works with goes rallying with his sons and they buy and sell cars to fix up etc to fund their rallying
Came and collected it tonight in exchange for £250 which I thought was amazing given what's wrong with it!
-
WTF is that!!??
That mate is what you've just bought to transport your first born in.....
Only better

As long as she's happy :afro:
Even i'm happy with it  It's a tidy little car to drive
Just trying to sort the stereo out now; the adaptor for the steering wheel controls from the Clio is different from the Modus......new one is either £40 or £70
-
Well thankfully the new harness was the cheaper one! Dont often happen like that....
So after a week or so of collecting the bits I tackled the install this morning

I had a couple
-
Headed back west for a mates wedding this weekend so left the Aldi at home and took the Modus for a bit of a run
200 mile round trip done without fuss or drama; it kept up with and passed motorway traffic easily. If you believe the trip computer it averaged about 58mpg too  dont believe that mayself as at 70mph the engine is spinning at approx 2600rpm; a 6th gear would make cruising much more enjoyable
-
We had a Modius in some weeks ago, pretty sure the headlamp bulb was replaced in about a minute! Flasher bulbs are harder, as you need to gain access from under the wheelarch
Thom
-
Attempted to chuck some water over it earlier but Linzi wanted it to go shopping.....
Next weeks is a complete set of brakes; front and back!! Glad im not paying
-
Brakes all round have been fitted and then its been parked up for a few days and one of next doors kids broke the door mirror
New one has arrived so got that to fit. So much for needing a headlight replacement guide, I need a door mirror guide

Lol that was the one I found  job for tomorrow......
-
Well it took 5 minutes to remove the door card and swap the mirroe and then 10 minutes to remove the cover off the old mirror
Then turned it into a van for a couple of runs to the tip. Saves the Aldi
-
Now goes faster

It wasn't a case of resisting, it was a case of getting a few niggles sorted and making sure everything was running spot on :afro:
It's silly quick!! I just hope Linzi takes it easy...... :lipsrsealed:
-
How much power approx?
-
How much power approx?
Between 15bhp and 20bhp
-
Been using this the last few days as my car is urm un-driveable
Not been very kind to it and it still returns over 55mpg
Sailed through its MOT
Got to pick up some winter wheels from my mate and get them fitted
-
its ticking all the boxes... can't ask for much more that that
-
its ticking all the boxes... can't ask for much more that that
Indeed. It's performing its role very well indeed  It won't know what's hit it when Junior arrives
-
Been a while since this was updated.......
Hoovered it out the other day; think its the first time since we owned it  still needs a wash mind
Had to replace this little lot this afternoon.
It was cheaper to buy a complete wiper motor and linkage than just the motor itself. £40 off Ebay and 30 minutes of my time and we have functioning wipers again
Renault wanted £255 just for the motor
In other non exciting news its still returning over 53mpg no matter how hard I drive it
-
So had the aircon re-gassed this morning. Icy cold again now
Then the damn thing broke down stating low oil pressure  wont start or even try to start so currently on a recovery truck en route to Renault dealer
Oil level is fine; battery voltage is good. Nothing appears to be unplugged :undecided: there is a ticking noise coming from the engine bay which sounds like a relay so im hoping its just the oil pressure switch.....god knows how much it will cost
-
Finally had a phonecall from the garage at 4,40pm to tell me 'its looking like an electrical fault but we finish at 5pm so we'll look at it again on Monday'
Urm do you not work Saturday's??
Yes but the guy working on your car isnt't so it will be Monday
Gee thanks!!!!
-
:lipsrsealed: that is all . . . . . . .
-
Well the Modus has been fixed
Fault was traced to a 'short circuit within the injection relay circuit'
Wiring has been repaired and Linzi has a much lighter purse :lipsrsealed:
Garage couldn't give me a reason as to what had caused the problem though. Apparently there were no signs of water ingress :undecided:
Oh and any profit they might have made on the job is going to be lost when they respray the drivers door thanks to the lovely scratch they put in it
-
So 3 months later the Modus finally went in to have the paintwork sorted.
On the to do list was the drivers door and both passenger doors. Dropped it off Monday at 10am and had a phone calll 5 hours later
Went to pick it up on Wednesday and guess what....they hadnt touched the passenger side
Then i looked at the drivers door and was greeted with this
(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y276/Rhyso/DC5F96FA-9961-4355-8287-3C08CDC434F3-31159-0000035838408A10_zps26cfe447.jpg) (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/Rhyso/media/DC5F96FA-9961-4355-8287-3C08CDC434F3-31159-0000035838408A10_zps26cfe447.jpg.html)
Proper bodge job
So I left the car there. Still awaiting a phonecall
-
Don't quite understand what I'm looking at here - did they just put that thing on the back edge of the door?
-

Big rectangle in the front door which is a completely different shade to the rest of the car
-
Yeah can see it now. That's terrible, why on earth would they think that was acceptable?
-

Sadly your guess is as good as mine mate
I sent the same picture to my mate who has a bodyshop; he said the only way to blend it properly is to do the wing and both doors.....
