Guessing a lot of petrol is going to be stolen by some other golf owner
Scum
-
man thats bad i take it you have informed the law
-
Yeah im guessing they have the same colour golf and they are going to take a trip to get some free petrol! Deffo go to the police as they will come knocking on your door if it happens anyway.
-
Report it, but now I guess for a short while you can rag it around, get some free petrol from a non cctv equipped station and run away from the law and when they come knocking just say it was those bloody thieves again
-
reported it to the police, got my crime reference number
house across the street has cctv, not sure if it would of picked up the car but will check with them

Or do a bank job, or drive around with YOU paying their insurance and tax.
Expect speeding tickets etc.

you have now been cloned. give it a month or so when this is forgoten about and there will be a clone of your motor driving about :lipsrsealed:
-
Who said it has to be a Golf? Any car will be able to sport the plates if they're not on for long and changed often... Once they've done a crime it doesn't matter to them if they've got the same model car as the plates came off.

Because, if it's on a Golf of the same colour then it'll get away with a lot more and a for a lot longer than if it weren't, on the PNC until there's a marker to pull the vehicle up.

you dont want a PNC marker on your car, trust me :lipsrsealed:
-
You will have a PNC marker on your car now. Every ANPR camera will flag your car as your plates are more than likely on a stolen vehicle.
Just be prepared to get pulled a lot until the matter with your plates is resolved.
What car have you got out of interest?

In that case, he should expect lots of speeding, tail gating, over taking, road ownership tickets in the post

Intrigued in what will now happen- is the registration number reported as stolen and any vehicle sporting these plates be treated as such?, will the original car now have a new registration assigned to it? - what do you do in the interim with no plates?

irrc police look into it, he may end up getting pulled by the police with them thinking hes stolen them.
and his responsibility to get to a shop and buy new plates.

Yeah, the office i spoke to mentioned that i would get stopped if they spot the plates on my car, as long as they are doing their job i am not too fussed
got spare plates in the boot, the ones stolen were screwed in, the screws were on the floor, the spares are stick on and i got no sticky stuff to stick it on with
-
You get new plates on your car.
If you get stopped the VIN on your car will match the plates so no worries.
You will however get stopped a few times in the next few weeks.
The likely hood whoever stole them has already used and dumped them. They would have been used the same night they were stolen before you noticed and reported it.

Happening more and more now not only due to petrol thief or career criminals, but so called normal people cloning the same vehicle as not to pay mot tax insurance..
Wife had a friend that this happened to only found out after the police informed her that she had been involved in a hit and run,she had to get a written letter from her manager informing them that she was at work at the time of the crash and couldn't possibly have been sixty miles away from where the incident took place.think the other motorist tried to claim off her insurance too,its a bit vague now as its over a year ago now.. :undecided:
-
My dad got his tax disc nickd off his bike at thruxton last month at bsb. Think some was trying to clone his bike
-
Maybe now would be the time to invest in a cheap set of private plates?
As you are inevitably going to be pulled up with some frequency over the next few weeks, I would keep some form of proof of ownership of the vehicle with you to make things nice and simple.
"Do you know why we have pulled you over?"
"Yes officer, I reported my registration plates stolen, here is my licence, insurance docs and V5 to prove I own the car."
