Hi guys, im new here and just figured out how to post on here, so will do a newbie post in a minute :)
Right basically, i have an 8 valve gti..and am basically being given a vr6. So im gonna do the conversion..i know for the hassle of carrying out the conversion its probably not worth it, but the gti i have is a minter, not a patch of rust on the whole shell and the vr6 im getting is ready for the scrapyard..
So basically, the vr6 is an auto, i know im gonna need a vr6/16v box with a vr6 pedal box as its hydraulic. My mate also seems to think that i will need a loom from a manual car? I dont think i do but if you guys could enlighten me on if i do then that would be a great help.
Thankyou very much.
Matt

You will need a VR6 box, 16v will not fit, loom will be the same on manual and auto you will have a few spare plugs left over but they will not matter.
Might be worth checking your insurance as a 1st step.

Ahh okay, sure i read somewhere that the 16v box will fit..must have dreamt that! haha. Very happy that the loom will work too, saves me hunting for an ECU and loom etc etc!!
I've checked my insurance and its actually £100 cheaper than the GTI!?!? Yeah go figure, that confused me too!! lol
Thanks for your help.

VR box has a different shaped bellhousing so that is what you will need.

Cheaper insurance for a VR6 transplant - insanity.
