Hi,

was Air con standard on a 2005 (55) GTi?

I'm pretty certain it was - in the form of dual zone climate control.

Initially, VW also fitted dual zone cc to the GT as well, but by the time I got mine, they'd reduced the spec to climatronic air con.

Yes it was standard on all UK spec GTIs.

Yes.
If you end up with one of the many Motorpoint Ed30's or GTI's they imported then you might get extra strong air-con.
Extra strong for hot countries.

Note that it wasn't standard on EU GTis for for example if someone has imported a GTI from Ireland (right hand drive) then it might not have climate control (will still have A/C though).

Ive seen a few Irish imports for sale over here.
