Ordered a set of aftermarket small bumpers to replace the original colour coded bumpers on my car. I have fitted the rear and it is just awful. I had to sellotape washers to the underside of the mountings where the bolt goes through but then the bumper side locaters made the bumper hang down, and now i've borken one of my location sliders tried supergluing it dodn't work, the bumper looks to be about 5mm too wide for the car. Any advice on fitting these? Anyone got a good full set of small bumper trim for a 5 door campaign gti?

Return it :lipsrsealed:

OWuld they accept a return, how long does it have to be from when you ordered it?
-
30 days?
If it didnt fit and was not up to the job it goes against the sale description?
Can't argue this one for you fella just try it? :undecided:

pictures and where from?
i would like new small bumpers for the gti, but obviously want as close to oem as possible

I think second hand are your best bet. I bought a replica arch kit for mine and whilst the rears were bad the fronts were dire.

They were £70 an end and from VW heritage, problem is i ordered them a while ago and then only fitted the rear one recently, and don't fancy fitting the front one which involves unbolting the front engine mount just to find its a poor fit and put mine back. To be honest there are enough people that convert to big bumpers that there should be small bumpers around. Decided the best way will be to media blast the paint off my colour coded ones and then spray them black and put the red pinstripe on in enamel paint. I made the rear one fit better by using 5 mm washers to put it higher and improve the gap between the body lip and bumper edge. But then I have the problem of the location sliders being too high on the bumper, so the bumper sags where it fits round the edges of the body. Hope this explains my dilemma. Also tried reshaping the bumper with a heat gun, didn't work as I hoped it just moved then went back to where it was.

Don't know about small ones, but the big front bumper I bought from Eurocarparts was a perfect fit and it's not OEM.

1st you DONT take off the engine mount... you just take the weight off with a Jack under the gearbox and undo 4 x 17mm bolts
2nd - Talk to VWH I'm sure they will try and help and may be willing to take back the bumpers if you can prove they are "Not Fit for Purpose" 12 Months is the limit under the sales of goods act. What you can't just say I want to return 'em as you really only have 7 days for that under the "Distance Selling Act".
Try and get some 2nd hand OEM ones.... Might take a while but thats half the fun...
