Title: Replacing AGU gearbox ENJ ECW difference?
Post by: Jin_C on 22 May 2012, 10:21
Hi all,

It seems like the input shaft bearing on my gearbox is on its way out. Whirring noise only when clutch is up, goes away when I push it in.

I called VW with my chassis number and they told me I have an ECW gearbox. I know that the ENJ box has the same ratios, is there any difference in drive shaft flange size and can I buy one of those instead?

Also are there any stretch bolts I need to replace when swapping out the gearbox?

Thanks!

Can anyone help? After further research Ive read that all 02j gearboxes have 108mm flanges. But then I also read that the very early 02js had 100mm flanges.

If anyone else has replaced their AGU gearbox which code did you have and what did you change to?

No real help but I've got an agu gearbox from my car I'm breaking, don't know what code it is but I'm in west London if you're after one.
