Title: Cabriolet Collected (Pics)
Post by: Ginge 35Edition on 21 May 2012, 17:04
After much deliberation the mrs has ordered a GT Cab. And collects it on the 2nd of June.

I've already been in touch with the lads at midland vw about a custom code remap as they have just received the latest software for the TDI.

I was gonna order the exhaust trim as the stealer said he couldn't budge on deal any more but I ain't paying £120!!!!

Can anyone suggest any other,I know that this thread has been played to death but some pics would be helpful and also any horror stories to help me make a wise purchase.

The spec is:-

Tungsten grey metallic
Vienna leather - black
Xenons inc drls
Life shine (load of nuts but it was free)
Three years servicing (free with vw finance)
Luxury mats upgrade

Cruise (std)
MMi (std)
Front & rear parking sensors (std)

Open to suggestions on little mods, the mrs won't want anything to mental.

To top it off the stealer said he would paint my rear diffuser too!

I guess I should update my signature too.

Have just been staring at one of these whilst waiting to pick up the wife and thought they look really good

I'm sure the yeti sorts tips are better vfm from shout friendly soda dealer

I think some GTI side trims would suit one

Nice one, thanks for that I'll pop over and get some this week. Don't suppose you've got some pics of them on the Roc? Are they rolled ends or flat finished?

They look mint, bit concerned about your fitting instructions, haha!

The missus must be worth it!!! Good luck with the purchase but speccing that brand new comes out at £33k and I'm really, really struggling with it at that price. There's a whole host of far more exotic machinery available for that sort of money.

But hey, it's a free country - you pays your money and you makes your choice!!!

I had a cab courtesy car, it was good fun for a few days, I did the obligatory drive home with the roof down, unfortunately it was cold and raining, the heaters helped a little as did my hat. Good fun! Was 25 mile drive at 60mph... brrrr

Not my fitting instructions, mine only had to be pushed in by hand but yeah I agree you might need a hammer and piece of wood

Open Tops are great.
I don't know why girls buy them.  It's always blokes you see with the top down.

Good resale values too.

I had a test drive in a cab when i went to pick my car up yesterday (26th), and tbh i was very impressed! It was the 1.4 TSI, plenty of poke for a posing machine, glorious weather so put the roof down and i was very surprised at how quiet it was with the windows up! no wind or any kind of noise really, there were a couple of rattles from the rear window area with the roof up although nothing too bad, the biggest problem was who was driving! I'm a 6'2" bloke with a bald head and a beer gut! Never a good look!

Great car though.

Exactly jimble it is a perfectly good car. I drive a gt Tsi dsg cab at the moment and it's a good laugh in this weather and certainly keeps the girlfriend very happy which we can't put a price on : )

The new Golf cabrios are catching on big time. I saw three within two minutes the other day. I've not seen three mk6 GTIs all week and they've been around at least 3 years now...
And I've barely seen three Golf Rs all year.

Totally agree, the dealer where I had my 35 from reckons he's sold six in the local area and I haven't seen one! I've only seen one R on the road full stop.

defiantly catching on these having seen a few over the last couple of days, i actually like the side profile which got me thinking VW should make the 3 door golf in a similar profile and ditch the rocco

I have decided to change my GTI for a 1.4 160bhp GT Cab. We are moving to an island so it seems the perfect car for our needs :)

I've owned a rag top BMW since 1998.  Always in the back of my mind was Stanley Knife wielding yobbos.  But no slashing has happened.
Convertibles make most trips a lot more fun.

I saw a Grey tsi the other day in Cornwall, the sun was shinning, roof down looked fantastic, best VW cab since the mk1. I think the GTI version will look even better in the flesh.

As long as it doesn't rain get that roof down and the blowers on! I can't believe how many soft tops i've seen over the last week with the roof up! I mean, if your not going to have it down in that weather then whats the point? Slap on some factor 30 and enjoy!!

Love the wheels on it too ... a great match with the Silver paint and black roof

I'd recommend some of this for your roof, while it's still new  :nerd:  :-
