Hi. Went to the car yesterday to do my weekly checks and for some strange reason the oil dipstick won't come out
It comes out a quarter of the way then it appears to be catching preventing it from coming out. I dont want to force it as i dont want my dippy to break. Has anyone else had this happen to them? And why its doing it? because its never done it before.
Frustrated i cant check my oil.

Your gonna have to get it out sooner or later so try giving it a twist aswell. Use some grips on the metal part of the stick. If that fails you are gonna have to pull the tube off.

where the dipstick clips in does break away. so if you give it some force i would recommend holding the bottom part to stop it breaking off

Thanks its a pain. I thought vw's were meant to be good. There about as reliable as a brick.

They are generally but that dipstick guide tube is a known weak link on the Mk4 across the range and you can buy them new for a few quid.

Ive just put a new one of them on. Three quid ninety from dealers. Cheapest part i'll buy for this tank.
