Title: thinking about buying this.

wanted it  for the seats and door cards, but i'm thinking would it be a big job to sort the problems listed in the AD? if not might take it on.

exhaust an front bushes are not a big job

Not going to need a lot of work, exhaust is easy to sort, bushes depends on which ones are in trouble.

I was looking at this the other day, if it's rust free then its a saver i think.

i dont believe the 'rust free' part, id want to see behind the archs and sills. other then that, if you could get it cheap, would make a nice little project :afro:

IF its only exhaust and bushes it's 100£ for parts. But bushes have to be quite bad to make a noise, so'd plan for a bit more, but I don't see anything that can't be fixed, in particular if you can hold a wrench.

Strongly don't be believe no rust part, that's just something not possible on a Mk3, though 96 model should not rust as bad as my ex 94...
Am 99% sure there will be a pile of compost in the wing - I took approx 5 liters out of mine when I bought it.

Other than that could be a bargain.

just reinforcing the doubt of the no rust.. the golf i've picked up was garaged its whole life, still has rust coming through on the side of the car behind the passenger door. MOT tester said nothing about the arches or sills so thinking i'm okay there, but definately get that claim confirmed!
"front bushes" is very vague, could mean the ones in wishbones in which case its a few bolts to just replace the whole lower arm, could mean anti-roll bushes, have even heard someone refer to the rubber boots around drop links as "bushes" but fairly certain none of it would be too difficult, wishbones and the roll bar just require socket wrenches for bolts and a bit of muscle to swap em.
exhaust is the same, even if you had to replace everything after the manifold/downpipe/cat.. I'm replacing one on one of my cars, just gonna hacksaw the F*r off to get round the rear axle, and as new ones come in bits, just reassemble over the axle haha
nothing mentioned in the ad sounds very difficult, and there are plenty of guides on here to show you how to do it all!!
