Post by: actionslax on 08 June 2005, 15:45
Looking to buy a transprter van to sit along side my mk3. anyone in here ever had any dealings with these? been checking ebay and autotrader and can get them reasonably cheap.. trying to find out what to look out for before buying etc and any mod sites (if any) out there as i'll be keeping this for a while...

Take a look in April 05 issue of Performance VW, there are a couple of nicely modded vans on page 78 which are from the guys who run www.vwt4.net (http://www.vwt4.net) including the nice mods, galleries of the vans and soon a club too.

Well vans aren't to my taste (apart from maybe a classic camper), and I certainly wouldn't buy one out of choice.
But if you need one for work, then you might as well buy a decent one, although I would question whether it should be modded.

I'd much rather have a car than a van or people carrier/MPV. Two or three kids fit into a normal car, and that's plenty for me.

cheers for the links....

after a mod site for wheels and lowering springs - there's height restriction barriers at some of the beaches i go to and i reckon one of these transporters would just fit with shorter springs and a bit of weight in the back  i need the van to transport a couple of stand up jetskis, mountain bikes and snowboard gear in the winter. the inside of my mk3 is getting f00ked - my bike and board scraping the insides and constant sand and wax everywhere is doing my nut in.. got a roof rack but does my fuel consumption no good at all and i know towing all the time is doing my clutch no favours either..

thought of buying an estate but would still have to tow....

gettin a van seems like the only option...........

that van ^^^ was in the gumball rally few years ago, some motorcross team running it..

cheers
