Right before i get nuked with "have you tryed the search" lol i really have, but im sure there is a leak somewhere my turbo pressure does not feel right the engine is totally standard I got an AUM engine and sometime Not all is idles alittle lumpy and i sometimes have noticed 1 or 2 flat spots, ive scanned it and all that im getting is something about turbo pressure is wrong check "DV" problem is this is my 1st turbo, I have looked around and read about a catch can? what is this and why should it be done? more importantly how is it done? and other stuff about NGR?? totally confused now I could do with some laymonds term help as I want to get her running perfectly as she should b b4 i spend any money modding anything.

Right ok something is up, I recently took my car to a local garage as it didnt feel right, he tld me that something was up with the Throttle timing but he sorted that and re-aligned it for £36 not bad really.
The last 2 days thou the car has been acting abit strange, so I just scanned it and got this....

Now before it went in the codes i was getting were....
17704
17705
16395
So what ever he did he seemed to have removed 16395 but replaced it with 17545
How exactly do you check a DV???? and are the other codes bad?????

Infamous 17705. Check all vacuum and breather hoses under the inlet manifold. They're prone to splitting. I'd also get in the group buy for a forge 008p if I was you :smiley:
They're also known to fail.

Right i'll check them tomorrow are they hard to get to?? and my name is down :) also is there a way I can check the current DV on the car??

The easiest way is to take both engine covers off and see if there a big oily mess under the inlet. If you want a closer look take the metal plate off in front of the inlet. If you look in the guide for fitting a catch can you'll see how to remove it :smiley:
There is a way to check the DV but I can't remember what it is :grin:
Just replace it anyway, it'll be needed when you eventually remap :wink:

take the dv off and suck the nipple and then slip your tounge on the end (or slide it onto your lip) so it sticks to it so if you let go it will stay there, if it falls off then its shot..... i think this is the way to do it :nerd:

lol i know it sounds wrong lol but you wont be able to get the vacuum any other way...... remember when you finish drinking a
capri-sun and you suck on the straw and it sticks to your lip and you can swing your head around and it doesnt fall off!!! just dont swing your head around testing the dv!!!

Pressure test your system, then you will find your leak (s).

Ok small update, checked what u said about the DV and i couldnt get it to stay on my lip not sure if i was doing it right thou. However, thanks to my beat mate, hes trading in his gti turbo thats the same engine code as mine soooo currently im sat in his car on the way to trade his gti now we swapped over the dv & maf just so we rule that out now sat in his car it is doing what mine was doing with the shakky idling so when i go bk for my car later fingers crossed :-)
