Title: Raspberry who?
Post by: Jay on 17 May 2012, 20:34
F@ck yeah, a better all rounder than the PI (people have been complaining about the PI not playing HD movies properly or jerkily and taking a while to start)

Sure it's twice the price, but it's more than twice the spec and probably worth it.

Makes mini projects possible, such as:

You want a media PC to perform a basic function like stream movies from your pc but you can't justifyy to build a pc for that job and it would take up to much room, bam there's your answer

you have a small workshop, you just bought a cnc mill, but dont really want a big PC taking room, bam there's your answer

you want a pc in your car but mini pc's plus screen plus other stuff = expensive build, bam there's your answer

you are doing R&D, manufacturing or engineering at home or at work, rather than having pc's everywhere you have one of these for a specific task, or use this as a controller for the device in development etc...

This ^ is what I'm thinking, particularly for the APC one, which could just sit in a tiny box behind the TV and has all the connections for wiring up.

The Pi and the AllWinner (here (http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2012/05/new-74-android-mini-computer-is-slightly-larger-than-a-thumb-drive/)) would be more useful for travelling, having a portable computer that you could just plug into any TV and pickup WiFi anywhere, very handy.
