Title: Mk2 1.8 Carb Question
Post by: JC on 17 May 2012, 19:33
Right then, the old pierburg is playing up

waxstat has been reset as per RJs guide and advice from elsewhere.

still no good.

with other symptoms it could be a blockage in the inlet manifold water pipe

So, what DIRECTION should the water flow ?

theu the inlet mainfold and up to the carb ?

or thru the carb and back into inlet manifold.

as per the picture, i took the pipe off and had no flow in one direction, and a trickle in the other

thanks in advance

I'm guessing Chuff top down it would have made sense to have gravity help circulation German tinking
which direction does the other pipe next to go? If it goes down the one in question goes up vice versa if it goes up then one without pipe goes down.

Flow goes: head > inlet mani > autochoke housing > waxstat housing > metal water pipe.

Sounds like you need a new o-ring.

Sounds like you need a new o-ring.

He's been told this repeatedly, by a VAG Tech.

I think he's fishing for someone to do the job, to be honest.

Actually mr hell I was confirming as per the vag techs instructions.

And even the man himself had to confirm direction ( or at least if it wasnt fcuked ) of flow

Oh and he volunteered you to do it. Best take Friday 29th June off

Bits arrived this morning
