Hello!
Going to try and change the power steering belt tomorrow but looking at it there seems to be lots of corrosion on the various nuts and bolts. If I manage to get it loosened off and cant get it tightened back up or some other problem occurs can I drive it without to my local garage. I don't think any other ancillaries are driven off that belt are they??

Your be fine but it will be very tough as its obviously isn't built the same as non assisted, in theory the faster you go the lighter it will get, but it would help if you were built like Rambo
-
OK thanks! Can't bear the squealing on full lock any longer so I will have to be done!
-
Blowing the tyres up harder than normal will help a little
-
It will be fine just very heavy.

Does the same belt not run the waterpump and alternator?

I don't think so on a 16v.
-
Nope, its a separate belt.

Unless you have aircon.....
Aparently... i've never seen it in person tho....
-
Yea the belt does run air con on a 16v
-
If you have aircon then the P.S belt does also run the water pump if i remember correctly, does on an 8 valve though
-
Not on a 16v
Two different belt sizes, one with air-con one without.
