Title: What does "highline" mean?
Post by: Chambo on 16 May 2012, 20:50
Hi all first off what does highline mean? secondly i may have the chance to swap my 2001 gti 1.8 turbo 118k for a gt tdi highline 110 118k w plate, very tidy loads of history and everything you'd look for in a used car really.I need something that will help cut my costs and a tdi will be a step in the right direction, anyway in your opinion does it sound a fair straight swap or not if not please tell me why not, many thanks in advance Chambo :undecided:

Check and see if it is an import, I don't think they were called Highline in the uk.

my mrs had a mk4 golf gt tdi 110 51 plate that did have the white highline sticker in the handbook but was not actually called a highline could be the same as the golf unless it said highline on the log book other wise it will say gt tdi on it

Was it cloth interior? I am certain that ALL Highlines have leather (later ones heated)

yes mate it was cloth recaro's without them saying recaro on like my 99 golf 1.8t ones do,i think the recaro leathers were an option on mk4's

it only seems to be the early ones that say recaro on them i have seen loads of 01-02-03 reg gti's without them saying recaros on them apart from the leather ones

The Boras are sold as a highline spec

I believe our 110 GTTDI is listed as a highline - has the cloth sport seats, not Recaros - The bolsters and sides are much much different, even though they look like a recaro style seat.

It's probably something odd  like adding in all the sports extra type bits, it makes it a highline even though they're not optional extras on a GTTDI.

Dunno. Could be a fair swap, guess it all depends on the condition of yours and what you have done to it, to make it a fair swap.

My mk4 was a listed as a highline. Sports seats, climatronic, and a sunroof.

Highline is the correct term

UK gave it the GT moniker; my TDI was a GT TDI 130 - highline in European speak
