Title: 115 PD power??
Post by: simpsonstarwars on 16 May 2012, 14:58
so i own a 115pd  and was wondering if there are any engine parts i could upgrade to gain more power without it being too costly ?

i already have plans for a stage 1 map but curious to see if there is anything else that i could be doing.

cheers :)

if you go pd130 tyrbo youll want all the associated pipes too, pd150 turbo youll want the pipes and front mount intercooler too aswell as bigger injectors. can become quite costy. best money i spent on my tdi110 was a blacksmoke remap. when it was standard apart from the map it kept with pd150's if igot abetter start

Whats the difference between a black smoke remap and a standard one if you don't mind me asking? Or is that just the name of the company that mapped it?

I presume its the name of the company that mapped it   Hopefully it doesn't 'black smoke' all the time mind

My previous golf was a ft tri 115, best bet is pipercross panel filter, miltek large bore downpipe and a decent at back system and a remap. Also get an allard egr removal kit, if your thinking of doing much more than just sell up and get a 130 ft, much better starting platform I've found tbh.

check and check :) cheers

p.s not read that much on the egr valve delete kits , is it noticeable?

Black smoke is just the name of the company. You buy a galleto lead (£25) then buy the file from a guy called andy who runs the blacksmoke site (top bloke, very helpful and will give you his phone number if you get stuck but its pretty simples) for £45 and your away. So far my tdi 110 non pd has this map, pd130 turbo, .216injectors, custom charge pipes, fr&r large bore downpipe and decat, turborevs sidemount intercooler and it flies. Egr removal is good but it can make the engine managment light come on with pre2001 (i think) cars

It can leave you with a dead ECU and you'll then need someone with appropriate equipment to rescue you.  It happened to me when I had the MK4 and as a result its in the bin

Equally it can write to some cars where the more expensive tools cant but do you want to take the chance?

To be fair everyone has a horror story and it sounds like you were a little unlucky Rhyso. Ive done mine and a few friends cars now and it seems to be spot on. I only went this route as i spent all my money on a recon head and new turbo and shiney bits lol

I wrote to the the MK4 a number of times without trouble and then just when I needed the car it failed and left with me a dead ECU

What are you going to do IF and WHEN it hap :sad:pens?  :undecided:
