Title: Electric Windows and sunroof not working

Got a G plate GTI 8v 5 door, and none of the electric windows work, i have searched on the forum, but couldnt find anything, and have no idea where to start, any ideas?

Also, it has a sunroof :) the previous owner said you could open it but it wouldnt close? Its manual, but didnt want to open it without asking people, as knowing my luck it will stay open and rain

Sunroof - If it opens easy then most likely the wind deflector doesn't fold down when closing. You have to putll it down manualy and close the roof.

Windows - Do the switches illuminate?

THanks, will look at this when i get back from uni.

The switches all light up, ive tried helping the window down, but doesnt seem to work

A word of caution about the sunroof.  If its not the deflector it could be the plastic ends of the cable which have broken.  If this is the case you will need new cables which are somewhere around the £50 mark I think and only avaliable from VW or imported from the USA (which is where I got mine). 

Never a fan of sunroofs anyway but after discovering this I would have never opened it.
