Need to pick up a mk3 8v engine with the transmission attached, dont really wanna pay 50 squids to hire a van for 3 hours, i have an engine hoist, will it fit in the back of a mk4 golf with the seats down ect, or im i living in a dream world?
-
Yeah. Just gonna make a mess
-
Really? even with the gearbox still on? im suprised but chuffed! Not to bothered about the mess its only a mk4 lol.

Id lay something solid like a sheet of ply or mdf over the boot and seats to stop anything wrecking them then lay a tarpaulin over that to catch any fluids that might leak out. It'd also be worth trying to pack it out around the engine to reduce the risk of it rolling around or moving round corners and whilst braking as it could be bloody lethal.

I will say no,
You will not get it through the boot opening. I had a guy pick up a mk3 16v engine from me in a golf it was a massive fail, that was minus the gearbox too.

Better and safer to hire a van
-
yeah i think your right, i've hired a van, what a rip off though £40 for a 4 hour drive! Never mind, engines a steal so it all works out i guess! Cheers guys worth an ask!
