Ok so im looking at putting a motorbike exhaust on my car (well iv pretty much bought it)
From my memory my 16v system is 55mm in diameter, the bike exhaust is 50mm, will i really need a reducer pipe to connect these seeing as theres only 5mm difference between them, surely can make that up in weld?
-
Yh, but surely the bike box will be much more restrictive seems as its designed for an engine half (or less) the size of your golf
-
Weld it up m8 my m8 has got a mk4 Astra back box I'm thinking off slapping that on my mk3 will sound sweet ass if I do it
-
that what race cans are for, no baffles! its basically just a fancy looking pipe.
-
You gat any updates on your golf gash?
-
oh shed loads BUT isnt going to updated until 1 day before mod nats (so 30th of this month) when i get it back from the painters!

Bike can will be very restrictive and very loud also if you sleeve down you may get issues with back pressure.
-
yea man i am! :)
oh god does that mean, it will pop? :( im not one for loud exhausts and seeing as i finish work late and live in a quiet area i dont want to llook like a chav! hah
-
It will be stupid loud as it is not really designed to work on a car.
-
bike exhausts on cars

As en ex novice racer in the 600 supersport class & someone that had to hands on strip down an rebuild the cans on my bikes to adjust the noise for noise testing regulations, a race pipe, is not very restrictive, they baffle sound by means of a highly perforated tube that is wrapped in exhaust wadding, the tighter the wrap the louder the it will be an vice versa i would advise getting a lightly larger bore, as making up 5mm or 2.5 either side of the flanges will be diffcult. on a bike the length of the rear box will adjust the power delivery, a longer can will allow the power to come in further up the range, a short can will give it to you in a fat short band all at once lower down he revs..... not quite sure how this is going to affect your golf.... i would imagine it will do nothing performance wise at all
after all TVR's use bike cans, my mate at Blueflame exhuasts makes them for some users.......
