Ok,
Took my GTi to my buddy yesterday as it sounds like the zaust is blowing, but after getting it up on the ramps, a blow could not be found from underneath?? Is there a common area under the bonnet where the system leaks???
-
Check for a cracked manifold and a split at the flexi joint.
-
Thanks bud, wheres the flexi joint???
-
I think the flexi joint is just before the downpipe meets the manifold?
-
Will get my scruffs on later and have a look, all being the weather doesnt change again! So far it was shorts this morning, about 9am, sleet/hale about 11am and now the sun is blasting!!!!!

Ok, before i lose my company car, im going to take the inlet manifold off and the exhaust manifold and replace the gaskets (Assuming i cant find the blow without doing all this)
Looking on europarts, i can only find exhaust manifold gaskets and nothing for inlet? Also, there seems to be a few variants for the manifold-downpipe gasket?
Anyone help please?? Just to clarify its 1997 mk3 Golf Gti 8v (AAG engine?)
Thanks
Turbo

Going to change my gaskets to, been putting it off for ages looks like its going to be a pain in the butt to do, inlet gasket is main dealer only i think, euro do the exhaust gaskets seperate, the one i got from vw is one piece.

oh man, main dealer, gutted!!! I will try a few independent parts peeps first!
I'm guessing its an inlet off job though, not looking forward to it but thats what you get for having boring cars for 3 years!!!! :smug:
