Tonight I have bought a 1999 1.8 T GTi 3dr in silver, totally standard car same owner 10 years FSH and serviced every 10k without fail, the car has covered 150k but runs like a swiss watch, long MOT and TAX and even half a tank of petrol  stacks of history and last serviced 3k miles ago, very clean just a few marks externally, and alloys are abit tatty/pitted, will have a cambelt change before the end of the month...£870 sound ok?? Everything seems in order, it was driven back from Netherlands to Essex yesterday (It is a UK car and nothing has been changed)

I would of thought you could have a cambelt replaced for much less then that, is that from your local VAG dealer?
-
Think he means 870 for the car!!! Yeah that's cheap!!!
Good find and welcome!!!

Yes one hundred percent UK car and spec and nothing has been changed for driving on the right - Thanks I thought £870 was a decent price too but the guy had to sell it this week before returning to Holland for work - Pics to follow I promise :smug:
-
Welcome to the culb mate, I recently got mine too :)
-
noticed mk4,s getting cheaper and cheaper so yeah good price if ya happy with it

Here it is, 100% bog standard and thats how it will be staying, have to say for a 150k car it is very quick and seems a goodun except there is this annoying beeping when I indicate right?? Car will have new cambelt fitted within two weeks. I Paid £870 for her, long MOT and TAX, last serviced by VAG indy on 148k, I hope to wash and polish it over the weekend

Yes a very honest straight car, just been going through the stacks of receipts and stamped S/H from new, recent new battery in Holland fitted by VW for €222 euros, wow  New brakes all round last May too

Update* I have been running above said car for 3 weeks now, done about 300 miles and all seems ok except a slight exhaust blow exposed by a blast on the M25 this week and a rattle/knocking from the steering column area when I start it??
Cambelt changed 2 weeks ago. A few squeaks and creaks on the bumpy roads around town, coming i think from the front offside, but some of the side roads near me are like that you would expect to find in a developing country, this car certainly picks up every bump in the road!
