Not unless you mean the core is cracked but then you would know about it! smoking will be the least of your worries thats for sure!
Can't say based on the limited information provided, what colour is the smoke? Where is it coming from? Breathers? Exhaust? You said you have a catch tank fitted, did you check none of the pcv hoses were blocked? (a blocked breather, or incorrectly routed breather setup will cause smoke out your exhaust) does the smoke go away when you drive off? Does it persist? Does it get worse on boost?
Alot of valve stem seals wear out, it's not a VW thing or a golf thing, it's an age thing as the material goes through expansion and contraction it begins to become brittle and fails to form a tight seal. Given the golf mk4 platform is over 10 years old now it's not surprising. Quite a few Honda engines suffer from this but some of their engines are bomb proof. Forum members will be able to better assist you when you get back to us with the above.

Hi sorry it's took a while to get bk to your comments it's seems to b more white than blue and it goes when driving car has done 112k services upto date , think I've done the catch can right I followed a guide on here I believe , the smoke itself comes from the back when it does smoke a blip of the throttle a bit more comes out then it clears hope this helps
I did check ye turbo for cracks and etc when I rebuilt it violent level not dropping neither oil level ???

Are you sure theres actually something wrong, my car smokes when cold.... mainly becuase its cold, also condensation has a part to play and your engines on the choke.....

As above, it could be nothing, are you losing coolant?
-
dont seam to be loosing anything its confusing f**k out of me ive checked all the pipes are on right could it be the hockey puck not working forgot what they called ?
-
It may well be that you have a blocked breather hose, if your not losing any fluids it's pretty unlikely you have a major problem. Go through your breather hoses leading to and from your catch tank as well as any standard pcv hosing just to make sure it's not clogged.

will do ill report back 2 moz cheers

If you've done the catch can check the breather hose which goes into the engine make sure its connected tight and sealed - might even be worth renewing that pipe and clip if not already done so.
I had a similar problem using the original hose as the outer plastic had perished making it a struggle to fit correctly.
Caused white smoke after revving while idle as seen here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nq1t_LRvXqQ

I've just checked the hoses before I go work there all tight and secure still confusing as hell I'm gna wip the plugs out see what they look like :-/
