hi folks the wife was looking for a mk5 golf gti but came across a very mint 54 plate gt with a genuine 34k on it owned buy a old guy from new tucked up in the garage most of the time, the wife picks it up tomorrow after leaving a deposit,do you think these are good cars or will she be gutted she did not get a gti
-
Gutted she didn't get a GTI
47bhp is a lot to miss; even more if you then add a cheeky remap into the mix

my mrs wanted a car with less than 60k and gti's with that sort of mileage dont come cheap, she only paid 4k for the gt,gti's with 80k are going for 6-7k

Buy cheap, buy twice

I'm sure she'll love it, get pics up once you have it...

Whilst I owned a Golf GTI I rather liked it. But I am sure a Golf GT or GTD would be just a slow pootling misery. Why not just buy the real deal?
After all "it's later than you think"

If you dont let her drive a GTI then she will be fine as she doesnt know what she is missing. GTI is a much better beast.

I think if you managed to get that for 4 grand than that's really cheap for such low miles and yes you'd definitely be hard pushed to find a GTI for that sort of money with low miles, if not impossible. The GT is sort of in the middle of it all. It's a great car of course but for me I would take the TDI over the FSI and if I could afford it the GTI over all.
