Ive got a mk2 Jetta 1.8 8v non gti engine. And a mk3 gti 8v gearbox. But the spline on the mk3 box is bigger then the spline on the mk2 box. I've been told that if I fit a mk3 gti clutch and flywheel the mk3 box will then fit onto the mk2 engine. Is this right?
Cheers

Should do. Im assuming this is a rod change box? Having swapped the clutch on mine at the weekend, its a bloody awkward bugger to get out solo btw.

Yh it's rod change. Been told it will fit, but not sure if the mk3 pressure plate will fit the mk2 flywheel? Or will I have to get a mk3 flywheel.
I'm getting my mate to do it for me

Not sure on that one, I was working on the assumption you were swapping flywheel and clutch over complete from Mk3 to Mk2. Its defo a job I would rather have left to someone else but am too much of a sucker for punishment .

Just incase some finds this in the future, a mk3 gti 020 gearbox, mk3 gti clutch and mk3 gti flywheel will fit a mk2 1.8 carb engine
