A few of you may remember me having a broken engine mount about a month and a half ago and I decided to buy a set of uprated ths ones.
Well.....I looked under the bonnet today to bleed
My clutch as advised by r tech only to find that the ths engine mount has broken!
This has pissed me off as I've spent
The whole day trying to get my bike up and runnin with no luck and now I have found this
I bought he set from awesomegti, will I be able to get a replacement as surely this shouldn't happen???
Cheers for any advice

Bought from brand new? I'd imagine they would have some sort of warranty. That is pretty bad. Where has it broken? Pics?

Yeah brand new £150ish for the set from awesomegti
I hope so gonna have a look when I finish in the garage, it's broken on both the front and back will get a pic up a little later

Must be some underlying problem for it to break again.........?
Not sure what, but I'd get it all checked over before throwing more money at it

thats crazy! what could cause it?
Too much power!

Just thinking, is the engine positioned correctly? There are set distances to measure across reference points on the mounts. They're listed in the Bentley manual, not sure about Haynes....
-
I don't know what has happened exactly but r tech commented on it juddering while setting
Off and think this may be why.

The thing is I haven't been driving that aggressively, people use these while going up the drag strip etc and I haven't doing anything like.

Does anybody know these set distances?
I just replaced them like for like and bolted it down how it sat :undecided:

Not sure about the distances but I have a spare set of mounts if you need some quickly! Have you checked the bushes of the rear dog mount?

Not sure if this picture is of your actual mount but in the above picture the engine mount failure could possibly be the result of improper installation, just look how out of alignment the mount is! It's completely jagged. The bolt should sit centred on the top mount as to cover up the hole. Chances are because it's so far out of alignment the bushes aren't working and instead you have metal on metal contact.
Power would definitely not be the reason for the mounts failure in the above case. I've had mates run gt2871r on standard mounts for a whole season without such problems.
-
It wasn't that far out of line before it broke but now it's comletely on the piss which I think idvdue to the engine dropping and moving :undecided:
-
Not sure the bolt should move so easily it is supposed to hold the engine while driving after all. Perhaps they were loose. It's odd that both your engine mounts went.
-
Hmmm I dunno just wanna get it sorted gonna have tI have a look into and hopeful won't happen again :undecided:
-
Have PM'd you about the mounts mate :)

Mine started to crack in 2 places. passenger side. I just swapped the casings over off a set of spare stock mounts.

which is what THS do anyways
