I have a vibe cbr10 active sub, its 350 watt rms so its pretty powerful. I had it working in my old car, now I have my golf and it doesnt seem to be wobbling as much and creating much bass. The power cable, remote and rcas are wired through the passenger side under the carpet etc. They're decent cables too. My ground was connected to the rear seatbelt harnesses with the paint sanded off. Any ideas what the problem could be?
Thanks in advance,
Pete

It could be your getting interruption from all the wires being ran down the one side of the car power cables should be seperated from the rca cables  so move the rca's to the right hand side of the car also check a setting on the amp has not been moved like the bass setting etc

I've checked the settings and i'll try moving the rcas to run through the opposite side of the car. I think it might be a poor ground connection, but ive tried a couple of different grounding points. Can anyone recommend me good places to ground my amp to? Thanks

I wouldn't bother with the RCA move just yet. Its good practice but doesnt sound related to your problem. Is the head unit the same so you know you're getting adequate signal?
Have you checked gain if there is a setting? Check fuses as well although not relevant if youre getting some power to the sub (light on or whatever).
In terms of an earth, get a meter and check for continuity between your earth point and the battery - terminal. You want the ohms scale and ideally a reading of 0 or close.

i have always ran my power cables and rcas near or close together. i have never heard of this before.
i will be running them seperate this time but i never had a problem with my old cars

Meant to avoid noise from power leads affecting signals. You usually end up with some bits running close, but I also use well-shielded signal cables rather than the thin jobbies that come in amp. kits. There are lots of sources of noise and its a pain if you spent hours running wires to find you have noise. Maplin is a reasonable source of shielded cable by the metre if you can solder. Otherwise i guess ebay or the car audio specialists.

what happens when the cables are together near the amp or sump. doesnt matter if there run either sides of the car as they will join eventually haha

Why I have amp and sub on opposite sides of the car!

erm think about active subs. no matter what the amp needs power and it feeds the headunit by phono so they will be together or near at some point
