Right,
I've just aquired a lovely old Mountney steering wheel that i've been bugging a mate about for a very long time now. Only problem is i have a '97 mk3 golf 16v and i cant seem to find a boss kit anywhere that will fit both the mk3 spline, and the wider spaced stud pattern of the older wheel.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Anyone?!................any ideas?

You could try an engineering shop to fabricate one up

If you can source a boss with the MK3 spline and measure (accurately) the stud pattern and PCD of the wheel, I can machine the boss to fit the wheel for you. Might take me a couple of days as I only have limited time on the machines at work.

Can you find one to fit the earlier, smaller Mk2 spline pattern? If so, you can remove the spline from a Mk3 steering column to reveal the smaller spline underneath though I seem to remember a couple of issues arising from that that have been covered on here before. Its what I ended up doing on my big spline Mk2 column and there are a fair few threads on here describing the removal procedure (prepare to get brutal!).

Thanks for all the help guys! a friend of mine has actually found an old suzuki one he reckons will fit ( ?! :undecided: )
If not though i'll definately pm you about that offer of yours spikenipple! how much would you want for the job?

Whatever it costs to post the parts back to you bud
If it comes to it, it would probably be best to send me the wheel if you can't get a pcd within 0.25mm or so, I wouldn't want to get it wrong and ruin the boss!
