dose the vr6 lip sit lower then the gti lip? or dose anyone have a pics of before and after? just want to see if it will make my car look lower :grin: thanks

Vw part as these are more robust, the reps can break easier :smiley:

Genuine for sure, although they cost more money they tend to flex when hit against speed bumps, curbs etc rather than shatter like the cheap copies.

No it doesn't.
There is no such thing as a 'VR6 lip' or a 'GTI lip'...there is an early (deep) lip as fitted to early 8vs, early VR6s and Anniversaries...and there is the shallow type used on the later GTIs & VR6s.
The deep lip is about 80mm deep and deep all the way round, the shallow about 40mm at the deepest and shallower at the sides..

thanks for the info i fot it was just the vr6 that came with the deeper lip and gtis that had the shallow. but just gos to show how much i know lol

iv been looking at them aswell but not to sure about it as my cars mega low and the shollow lip is already hittin the ground on step hills and speed bumps lol so i dont want to be buyin a new lip every two weeks as iv been told they keep ones like to crack alot but i cant seem to find a genuine one so mite just get one and rasie the car a little :sad: or can any one tell me where i can find a genuine one???

Try looking in the classified section mate, maybe find someone breaking an early vr6 or such as :smiley:

I could be wrong but iv heard they don't make them anymore and even some VR6 don't come with original ones these days.

I had one of those from eBay..... Got it crimbo day, broke it on my way home lasted 5 miles... It didn't help that the vr splitter had 6mm clearance from the road...looked sweet, but the copies break very very easily I hit mine on a cats eye under braking as i swithed lanes coming onto a roundabout, it it shattered into pieces.... Better with an original oem part although I've trashed my genuine duckbill one too now... But that's lasted 18 months

I've heard good things about the euro wagens splitter, supposed to be good and durable.
I used to have genuine one, got it for £5 coz it had a small crack init. Used to smash it daily and just bounces back

I had an ebay one too. Lasted literally 3 meters. Fitted it, reversed off the drive which has a tiny drop to the road and the splitter shattered :grin:

my shollow lip only got about 10mm to 15mm clearance but i want it lower :cool: lol i had a quick look but couldnt see any i have a other look the now. i dont see the point in buyin a cheep one if its just goin to smash :sad: oem all the way i just need to find one now lol

LULZ just ordered one but then my car isn't on the ground! do need to lower it a 20mm at the front but i still need C spanners lol.

let me know how you get on with it mate. i just fitted my coilovers the day and put them as low as they would go :cool: but i want the lip lower lol then i mite rasie the car but il see what happens

yeah will do, id like my lip to nearly be on the ground to but ill just hit it straight away i know i will.
Random Question any idea what size C spanners i need? looked on ebay and its medium or large. i just though one size fits all hahaha.

iv not got a clue mate i lost a c spaner onces and just used a flat head screwdriver and a hammer work fine but its up to you. with my coilovers been new i just done mines by hand :grin: and used loads of copper grease so they dont size up

Here you go bud, been a wile since if posted init tho as I sold it to my dad, bort a mk3 gti, sold the gti, bort a mk2 Jetta, dont like the Jetta so swapping the Jetta for the golf with my dad :cool:

Yeah that be cool, my coilovers are second hand and well a bit rusty on the threads whats the best way to clean it all up while on car? im thinking wd40 plus wire brush? move them down then copper greace so they don't rust up again.
( while were on the subject do i not need to use c spanners then? )

Yh that's spot on bud, I'd say spray some WD on them the day before to let soak in. The when you do wind them down make sure there's some copper greece between the thread and the nut.
And yh you can adjust them without c spanner s but you can easily chew up the lugs on the nuts
