I don't want this to sound like a rant/rave about how ridiculously expensive car insurance is...but I feel it will sound that way.
A friend of mine is moving from Coningsby Lincolnshire, to Liverpool (L5 postcode)...His insurance comapany want an extra £500 for the change of address.
Obviously Liverpool is larger and has more of a reputation that Lincolnshire , but £500...he only has 8 months left til it is renewal time.
How do you you work this out? Seems like a disgusting rise if you ask me, especially as his annual price for a years on a mk5 2L GT is only £800~!
-
its because liverpool is the crime capital of the uk
-
i am surprised its only £500
some NW postcodes you struggle to get quoted on at all
-
yup, sorry bud but to state the obvious its full of scally wags :lipsrsealed:

I knew that one already :smug:
But £500...that is over %60 increase!

have you ever been to liverpool your either dodging bullets or getting your wheels nicked while your driving 500 quid is cheap,my cousin lives in norris green is 30 drives a bmw 335i and pays 3.5k he got a quote for round my area about 30 miles away in preston and its 800 so its a big difference tell him just to insure where he lives in lincs if its cheaper they cant prove he will be living in liverpool
-
£3.5k? You f**king serious?!
Ridiculous. What are the % on say car theft or car crime in Lpool compared to another city you reckon?
-
lol thats what i said 3.5k is roofless, liverpool is bad for scallys breaking into your house tooled up for your keys for your car, last time i was there i seen 2 very young kids just nicked a transit driving down the road with the alarm going off lol wtf
-
My other half recently moved from Leigh to Liverpool and her insurance increased by £750. Ridiculous.

I feel insurance companies have a license to print money and charge whatever they see fit. I think is pretty savage. No wonder why so many don't pay it/cut corners/hate insurance companies.
I'm never moving to Liverpool

A little bit of balance for you, the last time we (Sky Insurance) insured in the 'L' Liverpool postcode area, our underwriters paid out over £2 for every £1 they took in premiums. It is an incredibly high risk area for car insurance in general, let alone the type of cars we insure (Import, Modified, Performance). The premiums charged in the area reflect the risk posed to insurers.
