Title: Golf V5 Ingintion Coil problem
Post by: UKflex on 07 June 2005, 13:01
Has anyone had any problems with their coils?

My car has started to misfire and there is an amber light flashing on the dash (looks like a basic engine icon).
I have been told by VW that this is a common problem with vw's that have 1 coil pack per cylinder.

Any ideas

Cheers

it is fairly common for them to go, moreso with the later 1.8T 20v engines, only way to really see if that's the problem is to either find someone with the same engine as you and swap the coils over to test.. or get it on a vag diagnostics machine.

Thanks for your advice.

Just been on the VW web site, and there seems to be a recall on this particular item. They are reparing the fault for free.
Check the site out if your cars having the same problem.

Did they kick up much fuss about changing the coil pack?
Got mine booked in for friday, just wondering how i should handle the the dealers when questions are asked?
