Hi All,
Must be around 8 years since i purchased a mk3 1.8 GL in dragon green that started the VW bug in me and this username.

i then went onto a rather boring mk4 in the not so nice bright green although it was a dark green

Then i tried a Seat, the awesome Leon Cupra R 225. Fantastic power with a few mods making it look great. After 4 years ownership i did become a little bored along with needing to free up some cash for a house purchase so i sold it last week for a good amount considering prices are dropping quite a bit for these now.

And that brings us upto today where i just took delivery of a mk3 golf gti 8v in near immaculate condition, not a spot of rust! 3 previous owners with every single piece of history from 1995-2009 and some more recently. Plus a grand total of 51,000 miles backed up with previous mots!

Now the exterior is great but there are a few little problems that i am hoping some forum members can point me in the right direction with including saggy front section of headling, stiff drivers door lock, gear shift like a spoon stiring porridge, dying MFA display and a slow electric window.

Seen elsewhere that you are making good progress with your issues. I have a similar list on mine (not as bad as some of yours - my gear selector is working as are my windows). Cash is limiting my progress at the moment.
But there is something about these old Mk3 GTis that inspires passion. I don't resent the low power of my 8V because it picks up like an old Ford Crossflow at mid revs (which is a good thing kids) and that makes it very driveable. And all the niggles are completely forgiven when it gets thrown down a few miles of twisty B roads. Not the quickest from A to B, but definitely one of the most engaging and enjoyable cars I have owned....
Long live our Mk3 GTis...

Thats what i am waiting for, a drive down the lanes and chucking the 8v about as all this work at the moment and its not returning the love  as it really needs the gearchange and a service plus i havent paid for the insurance yet so its boxed in by the rest of the fleet on the drive.
Keep thinking about a few mods, crystal lights, lowering, alloys, badge less grill but also got to remind myself i got the mk3 to save money
