This has been asked a 100 times i'm sure, apologies but i cant find any threads on here....
My Golf 1.9 tdi 130 bhp turbo needs replacing the actuator rod is partially seized, i have been offered a new 150 bhp one for very good money, will it fit my engine?
its the ASZ engine and a 2002 model

yes. May want the map changed to suit the bigger turbo

It will require mapping :afro:
-
ok as in straight fit, no modifications?
How much will a remap cost, and does the extra power affect mpg greatly?
-
Mpg will be near enough the same. map will cost £200-300 and its a straight fit as the only differences with the 150-130 is the turbo, FMIC and map
-
@ Steve/Rhyso - Do you know how much bigger? I assume the exducer and inducer (correct names?) are different sizes? The 150 is a vnt17/22 right?
-
The turbo is the same size, it is just the internalls that are up-rated IIRC - the materials used are to a higher spec to withstand more boost and the compressor wheel may be larger.
You won't need a remap unless you wan't extra power as it will run the same as your 130 unit :afro:

Turbo for a 130 = GT1749VA
Turbo for a 150 = GT1749VB
The specs are:
VA:- 35 mm intake and 36,5 mm flight
VB:- 37 mm intake and 38,3 mm flight
The VA model off the 130 will have a faster spool up, the only problem is the intake wheel is not meant to go over a set psi range while the VB is designed to support higher boost levels

Wow. Good trade knowledge
Cheers for the info. Maybe a tad trivial but now I know
