Hi everyone this is my first time here and i just bought a 2012 golf r-line and it is fitted with a rcd 310 can anyone please help me by telling me the difference between the rcd510 on ebay from vw china that sell for around 130 pounds and the rcd 510 with the phone button that sell from 250 -400 pounds i am sure this is a stupit question but please bear with me as i have no clue about these things and we all have to start somewhere
-
It would help if you post a link to the china ebay page, stands a chance that the chinese ones are some kind of knock off tbh but could be wrong.
Welcome btw.

Welocome along.
To be blunt, if we can afford £20 odd K cars, why do we worry about saving £100 on a new radio for it?
If you hold out, you will find an as new, genuine, original RCD510 on ebay for less than £250. I initially got stung by buying a radio outside of ebay that never turned up. It took me ages to get my money back. I then looked for another one by refining my search to my local area. Within a few days, one turned up less than 20 miles away. It had been taken from a brand new Eos when they upgraded to a Kenwood Nav unit. I managed to do a deal with them outside of ebay so they saved their fees, and I didn't have to hand over the cash untill I had the radio in my hands.

you are right about trying to save 100 pound of the grand scheme of things but i dont want to be waist full if they are more or less the same why pay the extra. The only difference i can see is that they dont have dab or rds which i dont mind because i never use the radio.so if anyone has on of these radio can they please help

If you decide against the Chinese one and do want a genuine VW RCD510 i'll have one for sale in a week or so.

Out of interest, what is a Golf R-Line?
I'd heard of the new Scirroco R-Line http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/volkswagen-world/news/394/scirocco-line-up-spring-clean-gives-customers-more-choice-and-value but not the Golf.

@tconl, I have a RCD510 unit up for sale as I recently swapped it for a navigation unit.
Drop me a PM if you're interested.

That's very nice indeed, I like those wheels and I think it needs a chrome tip on that exhaust to set it off...

There you go, all fixed.
Another vote hear for Skoda Yeti exhaust tips. The best £24.00 you'll spend.
I'm really liking this car. Can someone photoshop a set of Vancouvers onto it please?

I think it looks fantastic
is the normal GTI the only model without sideskirts!!!
-
Those R-Line's are fairly common over here in Ireland! They do look quite well, those 5-spoke wheels are nice but some of them have tiny little 16" wheels which look lost under the bodykit.
The bodykit makes the GTI/D look understated in comparison.
Most of them are also 1.6 TDI's or the smaller TSI petrols.
-
I'm pretty sure the 2.0 TDI has twin 65mm tail pipes, so if you bought a pair of Yeti tips, you'd have a spare one.
I have to say again, I really like this car. Any chance you could pm me your chassis number so that I can price the kit up from TPS? I'll understand if you don't want to.

Exactly!! If it wasnt for the 18" Monzas, no-one would notice us! Yeah yeah i know, if I wanted to stand out i should have bought a Focus RS. Still... I hope they dont sell many over here....

Yeah they're common over here and they did something similar with the MK5. They launched a "GT Sport" in the MKV which you could easily mistake for a GTI at the time... very similar front grill.
Basically, all show and no-go which suits the average irish buyer (traditionally there was much higher tax/insurance on the bigger engines, but this is changing thankfully).
-
They are common here in ireland but my one is not the same as the ones with the 16in wheels they are tredline golfs not highline models and they can not get the interior i have which is modeled on the golf r, so there are a good few differences between them. The lower spec ones are common and you can always tell by the wheels and you can not change the spec they come as a finished package
