Title: Rear Tweeters
Post by: DubAndDubber on 08 May 2012, 22:38
Hi all. I recently bought a new headunit, and it kept on going into protect mode.

Im pretty sure the culprit is the rear tweeter shorting out or whatever. How do i go about taking it out or sorting it out for that matter?

Its crackling when i go over large bumps or cornering.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Check the wiring on the back of the headunit first.

If it's going into protection mode it must be shorting out.  Tweeters are not powerful enough to do this.

Would it be the speaker instead then?

Speakers only take load they dont feed it back!

You definitely have a shorting out wire, power or earth!

i put the headunit in my mates mk4 and it worked fine, put his pioneer in mine and the rear passenger side tweeter and speaker were crackling. This makes me think its definitley a wire thats on the speaker. Theyre aftermarket alpine speakers and tweeter to. Thanks for you help so far guys, its currently driving me crazy. Literally.

Is the speaker correctly wired up?
