Title: 2.0tdi hot start problems
Post by: uncleben on 08 May 2012, 22:15
just a quick one guys, my wife has a 55 plate touran 2.0tdi (same engine as mk5 golf i assume?) and it starts fine when cold, but once its reached temp and switched off, if its restarted within 10 minutes or so then it turns over 7 or 8 times before firing up, once started it runs fine.
i first thought glow plugs, but since it starts fine from cold i'm unsure.
any suggestions would be very appreciated

p.s. i haven't posted in the tdi section as there doesn't seem to be a lot going on in there!

Could be the cam position sensor failing

Knew a bloke with a Passat that had a similar problem; changed it and its been fine ever since.  He had VW look at it and they wanted to change the ecu......

I think that was the problem but i cant remember 100%
