After 4 years of ownership I am currently thinking about selling and am looking for opinions as to how much I should put the motor up for sale at. From what I have seen there seems to be a huge difference in the selling price in local area (North East Scotland) for similar spec cars between trade and private sellers - anywhere up to 2k swing!
Car spec is standard '06 Golf GTI 5 door in black with following notables :
- Full black leather interior
- 45,500 miles
- Serviced and MOT until May 2013 (full VW service history)
- Taxed until Nov 2012
- Upgraded RCD500 6 disc in dash multidisc changer/mp3 compatible stereo
- IPod/MP3 ready (via 3.5mm jack installed into back of RCD500)
- Car in excellent condition in and out. Few noticeable marks/scuffs on alloys and couple of tiny stone chips in paintwork (as you would expect for car of this age).
- Front tyres 4mm tread, rears 6mm.
- Only 2 owners from new
I have a figure in my head but would be interested to see what everyone else thinks and might just take the average should I decide to sell.
cheers

I'd pay maximum £8,750 for that car. Low miles and good nick. If timing belt hadn't been done I'd pay £8,500.

£7777.77 cash

I'd say you'll meet buyers wanting it for silly money, but if you get someone who knows cars they'll pay for a top car, which I imagine yours is. I'd rather pay an extra grand up front than buy a ragged one which will probably cost much more than a grand in repairs.
I just bought an '07 in pristine condition with 38k miles and loads of service receipts etc (could tell the owner had really looked after the car) for £9,600. Drives like new. I could've got others cheaper, but they were high milers.
Good luck with the sale!

So mine at 63,000 full VWSH at £6,500 is reasonable then. God damn the secondhand market is slow at the moment.

Dealer price £8445
Private price £8290
P/X £8140
Trade price £7855

I bought mine from London about 4 months ago with a pretty simalar spec with dsg and paid £8,700 it had been well looked after and only 1 owner from new so would say yours would be well worth this amount as long as it's been looked after
