Title: Coolant leak
Post by: brejner on 06 May 2012, 23:49
Hi all

Went over a bump today a little too hastily. Left the car parked for a couple of hours and when I came back I noticed a little pink liquid has dropped down onto the concrete a couple of inches from the front bumper on the passenger side. I'm guessing it's cooling liquid. Any ideas how to mend please or how much it will cost in the garage.

Thanks as always.

start the car and have a look where its leaking from.. be good idea even check from top the engine .. will leave pink residue if its leaking somehwere from there so you can trace it easily then

Could be your radiator if it has never been replaced as they rot and leak. For a short term fix you could get some additive called k seal and that should seal up any leaks but personally I wouldn't put that in my engine and I would replace the rad. Check the bottom
Of the rad for the pink residue

Cheers guys. How much is a new radiator roughly as well as fitting costs?

Rough guess about 60 and fitting must be about 2 hours as its bumper off and aircon condenser off. Where abouts are you?

Over in Ealing. Showed it to a friend and he said the reason it's happening as the radiator is rusty.

Well if you get stuck I'm in Surrey near leatherhead and I can supply the rad and change it for you.

That's really kind. Thank you. Got a garage I normally go to but if they can't do it will certainly give you a shout.
