Title: 4motion Rear Brake Calipers
Post by: Yohan on 05 May 2012, 22:57
The rear brake calipers on my 4mo are over 170,000 miles old and not surprisingly, done.

I was planning on ordering new standard ones to replace them but it seems there are a few options out there.

TRW ones from VW Spares - http://www.vwspares.co.uk/g4brakes.php (http://www.vwspares.co.uk/g4brakes.php)

Pagid ones from EuroCarParts  - http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Bora_2.8_2001/p/car-parts/brakes/brake-hydraulics/brake-caliper/?133441990&1&a90d41466a2c8586848ef80c53f350d9a4c57a2b&000048 (http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Bora_2.8_2001/p/car-parts/brakes/brake-hydraulics/brake-caliper/?133441990&1&a90d41466a2c8586848ef80c53f350d9a4c57a2b&000048) or http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Bora_2.8_2001/p/car-parts/brakes/brake-hydraulics/brake-caliper/?133442210&1&9c05fc601df8588d2c1be9aa447ff2fe08195ba3&000048 (http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Bora_2.8_2001/p/car-parts/brakes/brake-hydraulics/brake-caliper/?133442210&1&9c05fc601df8588d2c1be9aa447ff2fe08195ba3&000048)

Why is there such a price difference between them?

EuroCarParts is also misleading as one states for 4wd and the other states for vented discs.

The euro car parts ones have the surcharge included in the price, you will get this refunded when you return your old calliper

Cheers Kyle, even with the surcharge refunded and the 30% off they are doing the VW Spares option is still cheaper!

Glad to hear it, that's what I'll do.
