Post by: EsSeX dAn on 05 May 2012, 16:36
posting on behalf of my friend whos a bit stuck lol
hi all i recently purchased a head from ebay for my tdi 110 golf mk4. i replaced all the valve guides and stem seals, had it pressure tested and a very slight skim to clean up the head gasket mounting face. it was pressure tested after the skim (60psi for an hour) and it was ok. however this has happened during the skim

you cant see it very well but there is a tiny bit of what looks like a bit of a dig between the exhaust valve and the water way. the only way therll be gas/water transfer is when the valve is open on the exhaust stroke while the gas is heading out down the exhaust portsthe valve will keep it sealed all the rest of the time from what i can see. it passed the pressure test ok but will it be ok to drive? i dont wanna put this new head on then it still be no good you see. help appreciated. thanks muchly
