Title: loose injectors 16v help needed
Post by: mush on 04 May 2012, 21:13
Seems to be one thing after another at the moment,  I've noticed number 1 and 2 injectors that screw into the engine block seem loose others are fine just wonder how I go about tightening them up? Also noticed a the connector that's on the right side of block a wire has come away and I'm wondering how this
can be fixed its broke right near the connector and there's no way of joining it back on this also goes to the injectors and thinking about it, its proberley why my cold starts messed up and my rough running.

Please help this car is a never ending money box

Pop the injector out and tighten the seat, check the condition of the seals on the injectors whilst they are out.

Cool I'll do that how did you get the rubber pipes off the injectors? I've had a go tonight and they are stuck solid was thinking of un-screwing and removing  the injector from top of air box and ring spanner over the top and down onto the injector then spin it off.

All of the other pipes are in the waY if you know what I mean.

Would this work? Or any easier way?

To get to the injectors on a valver you have to take off "all the intake manifold" - not really difficult just a pain in the bum....

As for the 5th injector get the soldering iron out!!

dam i havent got a soldering iron, do the injectors from the main block just pull out or are they threaded ? just need to nip the nut up at the base really.

may be i'm confusing myself more now  :undecided:

They just pull out if seals are hard and old they do need some wiggling push pull method works once you have removed the manifold!
I wouldn't touch it without Three things:
SEALS
Manifold gaskets
Gasket seal orange stuff.
Oh yeah some hex bolts that keep the manifold on as sometimes they round then you are in a world of pain

I would fella, but you're 170 miles away short trip it would not be
Just get the seals and gasket.
TBH If I didnt take the manifold off NO way I could get the really stuck on ones out as you can push them out from behind.
You say loose but the seals might have perished and they are knocking distrupting the spray pattern. Either way you have to sort it.
Top tip get the right long bar hex bit and smack it hard onto the bolts if you round them? You will be in bigger trouble
