Just when I thought things were as perfect as they could be,driving today on our lovely smooth european roads (lol)had a knocking from the front right had a quick look can't see anything loose or broken would it be a shock gone?
-
Do you own a crow bar?
Best thing is to replicate the noise by:
Sticking your crow bar into the wishbones ARB tie ends and see if you can excert the same forces.
Rock the front suspension on the wing see if it comes back right away if it does it will be fine.
Last thing the top mounts are finished only way to tell is to remove it, but thats a pain if you have no spring compressors.
-
On further inspection I have seen the bumperstop is broken and perished would that be the problem?
-
Yes but a symptom of a top mount being perished.
If the solid mount has movement it will cause more forces on the shocks, bumper stops.
worth checking the ball joint for knocking aswell
-
That's a job for the morning cidre time now

if it's not what Jay says - it sounds like a broken spring to me...
Get the torch out have a good look...
